Jimin and Jungkook were selected in the categories of Top Global K-Pop Artist and Top Global K-Pop Song, according to the finalist list of the "2024 Billboard Music Awards" released on the 25th (local time). Following last year, they were nominated for solo activities 'BBMAs' this year, proving their unchanged status.
Jimin nominated the title song 'Who' from his second solo album 'MUSE' for the 'Top Global K-Pop Song'. Shortly after its release, "Who" went straight to No. 14 on the Billboard main song chart "Hot 100", making it the sixth song in Jimin's career "Hot 100". The song is still loved by many people and continues to chart in 'Hot 100' for 17 consecutive weeks.
Jungkook is aiming to win in the same category for the second consecutive year with his solo single '3D (feat. Jack Harlow)' and the title track of his solo album 'GOLDEN'. In addition, 'Standing Next to You' was also named in the 'Top Selling Song' category. '3D (feat. Jack Harlow)' and 'Standing Next to You' have entered Billboard 'Hot 100' in a row at No. 5.
'GOLDEN' with 'Standing Next to You' was also included in the nominees for 'Top K-Pop Album'. 'GOLDEN' was ranked on the Billboard main album chart 'Billboards 200' for 24 consecutive weeks, marking the longest entry into a Korean solo artist album on the chart.
Thanks to its popularity, Jungkook became the first K-pop solo artist to be nominated in the Top Song Sales Artist category. Jungkook was selected as a finalist in a total of six categories and became the most nominated K-pop singer for 'BBMAs' this year.
Meanwhile, their BTS has won a total of 12 trophies, including 'top social artist' (2017-2021), 'top duo/group' (2019, 2021-2022), 'top song sales artist' (2021-2022), and 'top selling song' (2021-2022). On top of that, Jungkook won the 'Top Global K-Pop Song' with his solo single 'Seven (feat. Latto)' in the '2023 BBMAs'.
The song "BBMAs" boasts a high authority, along with "Grammy Awards", "American Music Awards', and "MTV VMA", which is considered one of the top four popular music awards in the United States. This year's award ceremony, which will be held on December 12, will be broadcast on FOX and Amazon Fire TV channels in the United States and will be streamed later on Paramount+.
