2 Years of Drug Jail Don Spike Runs Restaurant After Release...Addiction Rehabilitation

Composer and producer Don Spike, who was arrested on drug charges, has been released from prison.

On the 17th, it was reported that Don Spike was released from prison earlier this month and is running a restaurant in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The restaurant has been in operation since before the drug scandal broke in 2019.

A close aide to Don Spike said "Don Spike is currently rehabilitating from N.A. activities and addiction treatment at the Anti-Drug Movement Headquarters. He said, "I'm running a restaurant with my younger brother, self-reflecting."

Don Spike began to gain fame with his arrangement of 'I'm a Singer' and gained popularity with his high-quality cooking skills and mukbang. However, in September 2022, he was arrested for possessing and administering methamphetamine at a hotel in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Don Spike was accused of administering methamphetamine 14 times in the Gangnam-gu area of Seoul from December 2021 to September 2022. He is also accused of using Telegram to purchase methamphetamine worth 45 million won and issuing methamphetamine and ecstasy seven times. He is also suspected of possessing 20 grams of methamphetamine. This is usually as much as 667 doses.

In the process, it was also revealed that Don Spike was fined 5 million won for smoking cannabis in 2010 and sentenced to one year in prison and two years of probation for another drug in the same year.

Don Spike admitted all the crimes, and the first trial sentenced Don Spike to three years in prison and five years of probation. However, the prosecution appealed for unfair sentencing, saying that Don Spike had three drug crimes, had a significant amount of methamphetamine, and had a high number of inhalations. Accordingly, the second trial court ruled against the original ruling and sentenced him to two years in prison. Don Spike appealed, but the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal and confirmed the sentence.
