On the 19th, the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (hereinafter referred to as the NHRC) requested the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to investigate five people, including Yang Jae-woong, the hospital's head, his doctor, on-call doctor, nurses, and nursing assistants, on charges of ordering or assisting false medical records.
On May 27 last year, a woman in her 30s, who was hospitalized to treat diet drug addiction, died at a hospital in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, run by Yang Jae-woong. A's bereaved families filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission, saying that A suffered from unfair isolation and compulsion while hospitalized and died because he did not receive appropriate medical measures.
As a result of investigating the case, the National Human Rights Commission determined that there were false in the medical records.
The National Human Rights Commission based the fact that it was the doctor who actually ordered A to quarantine and obsess over the two quarantine sessions conducted during the night, but all medical records were recorded as being ordered by the on-call doctor, and that the nurse falsely recorded A as if he had been ordered by the on-call doctor.
The National Human Rights Commission considered it impossible without Yang Jae-woong's instructions or assistance in light of the fact that nursing assistants and others on the duty of their doctors stated that such false medical records have been `practically implemented over a long period of time.' It also concluded that the hospital quarantined and obsessed without any measures such as treatment or detailed identification of A. Medical records show that A showed aggressive behavior, such as holding the wrist of the treatment team, but CCTV video records did not confirm such a scene.
In response, the National Human Rights Commission requested a prosecution investigation into Yang Jae-woong and others. In addition, Yang Jae-woong recommended that job training for related employees be provided for violations of quarantine compulsion guidelines and false medical records, and that clear work regulations for on-call medical personnel be created and implemented.
Meanwhile, Yang Jae-woong remained silent about the patient's death and belatedly issued an apology when the news was revealed through media reports. However, it was revealed that he announced the news of his marriage to EXID Hani three days after the patient's death, and he was criticized.
Due to the incident, Yang Jae-woong postponed his marriage to Hani and attended a parliamentary audit, but he said he could not admit the hospital's negligence and had not yet apologized to the bereaved families.
