Wheesung Found Dead at Home at 43—Police Investigating Possible Overdose or Suicide

According to police and his agency, Wheesung was found collapsed at 6:29 p.m. on the same day in an apartment in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
Ostrich Entertainment, the agency, said "Hwisung, his artist, left us" and "The deceased was found in cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was pronounced dead"
In the meantime, "All of my fellow ostrich entertainment artists and executives, including the bereaved families, are mourning the deceased with heartbreak due to the sudden sad news."I will inform you of the funeral separately" he added.
Fire authorities were reportedly dispatched after receiving a report from Wheesung's mother.

Wheesung made his debut in 2002 with "Can't I?" and gained popularity with consecutive hits. However, in 2020, he collapsed while administering sleeping anesthetics and was investigated by the police, and eventually was handed over to trial on charges of habitually administering propofol (violation of the Narcotics Control Act), and was sentenced to a suspended sentence of imprisonment the following year. Due to this incident, Wheesung has been focusing on performances rather than broadcasting.
In particular, Wheesung was known to have been scheduled to hold a joint concert "The Story" with singer KCM at the Daegu Exco Auditorium on the 15th, adding to the regret. On the 6th, he posted "Diet is over. I'll see you on March 15," he posted, but this was the last message he sent to his fans.
