Cha In-pyo's father Cha Soo-woong, former chairman of Woosung Shipping, died in 2023. He was 83. At the time, Cha In-pyo posted a video of his walk with his father while he was alive. "Goodbye, father. Let's meet in heaven and walk again" in memory of his father. Cha In-pyo's wife Shin Ae-ra also posted a picture of the mortuary on Instagram, saying, "I love and respect you." I pray for the day we meet again" in memory of the deceased.
Cha was born in Taean, South Chungcheong Province, in 1940, graduated from Incheon High School and Yonsei University with a degree in English and Literature, before joining Incheon Steel. He started Woosung Shipping in 1974 and became a manager. When Cha retired in 2006, Woosung Shipping ranked fourth in the Korean shipping industry after Hanjin Shipping, Hyundai Merchant Marine and Musk Line. The deceased was awarded the Industrial Packaging in 1997 in recognition of his contribution to the development of the Korean shipping industry.
Former chairman Cha became a hot topic even after stepping down from the management front, but did not succeed to management control to his children, but handed it over to a professional manager. In a past interview, Cha In-pyo said, `There are many people in the company who started a company with my father and devoted themselves to it for 40 years"It doesn't make sense for a son who doesn't work for a company and doesn't know anything about the shipping industry to appear and take over management rights."
Meanwhile, Cha In-pyo married Shin Ae-ra in 1995 and had one son and two daughters. After giving birth to her first son in 1998, she adopted Yeeun and Yejin in 2005 and 2008. Cha In-pyo owns well over 20 billion buildings in Sinae-ra and Cheongdam-dong.
