Calmman, which has 2.82 million subscribers, unveiled a plan to pay for the live full-version replay channel 'Calmman Original Museum' through its fan site 'Chim Ha' on the 31st of last month. He said he would pre-open it to paying subscribers of 3,000 won per month through the channel and then open it for free a week later.
As for the reason for the fee, Calmman explained, "There is no channel dedicated to the replay video, so the edited video and the original video are mixed up, and the content is consumed before the edited video and there are many mistakes due to the nature of the live, so it is burdensome to keep it open at all times." I also thought that to match the tempo of this channel, I would have to adjust the release time of the original live video"I've been doing free disclosures for too long So I expected that if we put a limit on viewing this time, there might be complaints," he added.
Calmman initially considered releasing some of the original video behind closed doors and then releasing it in time for the release of the edited version, but eventually decided to pay for it, leaving it to the audience's choice. He said "The complaint may be more inconvenient than the existing method, so we decided that it was necessary to organize it, although it was not unexpected." he said.
However, when the news spread, some subscribers criticized "Isn't it money-making after all?" Calmman responded "Not all videos get paid for. There seem to be too many people making a fuss, he explained, stressing that it was not a decision aimed solely at profits.
As the controversy did not subside, Calm Man eventually stopped all replay contents and turned to a free public policy a week after the live broadcast.
