The Special Judicial Police of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Agency sent a Dubon Korea employee and a corporation suspected of violating the country of origin labeling law to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office on the 4th.
Dubon Korea is accused of selling some of its products, such as 「Jongwon Baek's Baekseok doenjang" and"Hanshin Pocha stir-fried octopus" even though some ingredients are foreign-made, they are marked as domestic and sold them at online malls. Unlike advertisements that soybean paste products were manufactured in a traditional Korean way, Chinese-made improved fermented soybeans and imported soybeans and flour were included, and Chinese garlic was used for stir-fried octopus, not domestic garlic.
Dubon Korea is also suspected of containing false information in advertisements by marking the origin of ingredients for products such as 'Coverjuk' and 'Chundeuk Sweet Potato Bread' as domestic products and using industrial metal cooking tools.
'Cover porridge' is known to contain Vietnamese shrimp, unlike the use of phrases such as 'domestic'natural'. In response, Dubon Korea explained that the shrimp used in the broth of the porridge was domestic, but the shrimp used in the topping sauce was from Vietnam.
Police said last month that they are investigating a total of 14 cases against CEO Baek and Dubon Korea on charges of violating the Food Labeling and Advertising Act and the Food Sanitation Act.
