Police in Costa Rica officially announced on the 21st that Malcolm-Jamal Warner drowned in a rip current while swimming on the Caribbean coast of Cochles Beach on the afternoon of the 20th (local time).
Malcolm-Jamal Warner was on vacation with his family at the time and was rescued from the water by people at the scene shortly after the accident, but was already dead when emergency services arrived, authorities said.
