A, the representative of a database company under investigation for investment fraud worth 290 billion won, asked to lift the ban on leaving the country, but the court refused to accept it.

According to Rotok News on the 8th, the Seoul Administrative Court rejected A's request to lift the ban on departure in April.

Mr. A was accused of attracting a total of 291.9 billion won by recruiting investors with bait for about a year and five months from September 2022 (violation of the Act on the Regulation of Similar Receiving Acts and fraud under the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes).

Accordingly, since April 2024, the Ministry of Justice has imposed a ban on A from leaving the country at the request of the police and extended it every month. After that, when the case was sent to the prosecution, A filed an administrative lawsuit in March and requested the lifting of the departure ban.

During the trial, Mr. A said "I worked hard on the investigation and all my family members are living in Korea."

In particular, he claimed that `the second son is an idol singer, so there is no fear of escaping.' He also appealed that the ban on departure seriously hurts the company's management at a time when overseas business trips are required.

However, the court said, `The fact that the second son is an idol cannot be seen as a reason to resolve the fear of escape```` did not accept A's claim. It was also judged that it could not be concluded that overseas business trips must be made only through Mr. A's own departure.
