Liam Gallagher, a member of the famous British rock band Oasis, has been embroiled in a controversy over his use of racist expressions.

Liam Gallagher suddenly posted the word `Ching Chong' on his personal account on the 1st (local time). 'Chong Chong' is a racist expression used to disparage Chinese or East Asians in the West, and has often been used to mock or caricature Asians, describing them as 'people with incomprehensible words or strange accents'.

A netizen who saw the post said, "You should not use such words", but Liam pointed out "Why?", "Don't bother" he responded, adding to the controversy. Later, as criticism grew, he deleted the article and apologized.

Liam Gallagher apologizes if he offended anyone with an earlier tweet. It wasn't intended to be like that." "I don't discriminate against anyone. I convey peace and love."

However, criticism intensified as Liam Gallagher's racist remarks came at a time when Oasis was about to perform in Asia.

Korean fans were angry, "'Are you going to tell the audience 'Chong' even when you come to perform?', 'Can you do this when you say you're coming to Korea?' and "It's like saying 'niger' to black people, but I guess Asians are easy on them."

Meanwhile, Oasis is scheduled to perform in Korea on October 21 at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi Province.

Formed in 1991, Oasis is a legendary band representing the Britpop era with masterpieces such as 'Don't Look Back in Anger', 'Wonderwall', and 'Live Forever'. Liam and older brother Noel Gallagher declared their breakup in 2009, but fans were looking forward to the news of the recent reunion.
