SBS's Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Winning Try’ (scripted by Im Jin-ah, director Jang Young-seok) is a comic growth sports drama in which the unpredictable eccentric director Joo Kyung-ram (played by Yoon Gye-sang) and the last-place Hanyang Sports High School rugby team run toward winning the National Sports Festival.
Kim Min-sang played Sung Jong-man, a cold-headed realist, and overwhelmed the atmosphere of the play with a fierce logical battle over the existence of the rugby department from his first appearance.
In the broadcast on this day, Jongman took issue with the effectiveness of the Hanyang Sports High School rugby department, left a strong impression with the straightforward line that '40 million budget was wasted' and persuaded other sports coaches to plan the transition of rugby department players.
However, before him, former rugby international Joo Joo-ram, who was expelled over the doping scandal, took over as the new coach of the rugby department, further escalating the drama's conflict. Jongman strongly protested, saying, `It's ridiculous to bring a player who has tarnished the school as a manager, and internal conflicts over the rugby department surfaced.
In the following scene, Joo Joo-ram appeared unannounced at the scene of Hanyang Sports High School's 'Winning History', embarrassing Jongman. As a result, the war of nerves between the two with different perspectives began in earnest, adding to the interest in the development of the play.
Sung Jong-man, the vice-principal with such cool judgment and realistic thinking, was at the center of the confrontation, causing a strange tension. Viewers are paying attention to how Jong-man will respond to director Joo Kyung-ram and what choices he will make in the complex power struggle within the school.
Meanwhile, ‘The Winning Try’, starring Kim Min-sang, airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. on SBS.
