Suspect Who Hijacked Jungkook’s Securities Account Caught in Thailand, Returned to Korea

Mr. A, the head of the hacking organization that made Jungkook cry, the group BTS, was arrested.

The Ministry of Justice forcibly repatriated A from Bangkok, Thailand to Incheon Engineering on the 22nd. The Ministry of Justice cooperated with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and Interpol to track the whereabouts of the criminal and obtained information that A had entered Thailand in April this year and filed an emergency extradition request with the Thai authorities. Two weeks later, he secured A's whereabouts and finally succeeded in repatriating him to Korea.

Mr. A, a Chinese national, organized a hacking crime group abroad, including Thailand, and has illegally collected personal information by breaking into a number of websites, including mobile carrier websites, from August 2023 to January last year. Based on the information collected in this way, A opened a mobile phone in the name of local wealthy people and stole a total of 38 billion won by transferring assets such as deposits from their gold and virtual asset accounts without permission.

The confirmed victims included a number of local wealthy people, including the chairman of large corporations and the representatives of venture companies, and there was also a political situation of BTS.

In January last year, shortly after joining the military, Jungkook was robbed of his securities account name and stole a total of 33,500 Hive shares worth 8.4 billion won. Mr. A sold 500 shares (126 million won) of the stocks taken from Jungkook to a third party.

However, immediately after the agency Big Hit Music recognized the damage, it took measures such as suspension of payment, which did not lead to substantial damage. Jungkook filed a lawsuit to return the shares to a third party who purchased 500 shares, and the Seoul Western District Court ruled that Jungkook should return all the shares, saying, "There is no transfer contract for the shares, and Jungkook suffered damage from theft of his name.'
