Min Hee-jin Partially Wins Defamation Suit

Min Hee-jin, former CEO of A-door, filed a large-scale lawsuit against the haters, but only received some of the winning rulings.

The Seoul Western District Court's Civil Division 3 (Chief Judge Yoo Dong-kyun) recently ruled in favor of some of the plaintiffs in a damage suit filed by former representative Min, asking for 3 million won each to compensate three haters.

The court dismissed the claim against two and admitted one. The amount of compensation was also set at 300,000 won, a significant reduction from 3 million won claimed by former representative Min.

In April last year, former CEO Min held two press conferences related to the management dispute with Hive. Many people sympathized with former CEO Min's outspoken words and actions at the time, but the attacks of the haters continued, and former CEO Min filed a lawsuit against a total of 11 netizens. The charges were later dropped against eight people.

Former representative Min was mentally damaged by the insults and defamation of the hatersThe court argued that there are such Xs in life, but when it comes to comments such as "'I have Xs in my life' and "'I X is I X.'" Considering the purpose and method context of the parties comprehensively, it is difficult to say that it has resulted in an illegal infringement of personal rights"I dismissed the claim.

However, the comment 'In the end, XXX tough sheep XX' was recognized as 'bad comments'. The court saw it as an offensive and derogatory personal attack even considering that it was an opinion on the article.

In March, Min also won some of his damages against 10 people.
