The Seoul Administrative Court will hold a first trial hearing on the 28th to confirm the absence of an entry ban decision filed by Yoo Seung-joon against the Ministry of Justice and the Consulate General in Los Angeles.
Yoo Seung-joon was banned from entering Korea in 2002, saying he would return from an overseas performance before joining the military, giving up his Korean citizenship and obtaining U.S. citizenship. Yoo Seung-joon applied for an overseas Korean visa (F-4) in 2015 when he turned 38 when the legal period for enlistment was over, but filed an administrative lawsuit when the Consulate General of LA refused to issue a visa. Yoo won both administrative lawsuits, but was still denied a visa.
In response, Yoo Seung-joon once again filed a lawsuit against the Consulate General of LA and the Ministry of Justice last year. Yoo argued that denial of entry was a violation of the principle of proportional equality, but the Ministry of Justice said, `When Yoo enters the country, it can cause social chaos" countered.
Yoo recently announced his comeback on YouTube.
