Jung Woosung to Make First Public Appearance in 10 Months at Buil Film Awards

Actor Jung Woo-sung, who experienced privacy issues about extramarital people, will stand on the red carpet at the Busan Buil Film Awards 10 months after the Blue Dragon Film Awards in November last year.

On the 11th, the 34th Buil Film Awards revealed the winners of the Yoo Hyun-mok Film Arts Awards and the list of participants in the handprinting event.

The Buil Film Award was the first film award in Korea to lead the golden age of Korean film in the 1960s, and it has been 18 years since its resumption in 2008, maintaining the tradition and authority of the first film award in Korea.

The awards ceremony, which will be held at the Signiel Grand Ballroom in Busan on the 18th (Thursday), will feature 16 awards, including this year's Star of the Year and Yoo Hyun-mok Film Arts Awards, after hand-printing and red carpet events.

Ahead of the awards ceremony, the winners of the Yoo Hyun-mok Film Arts Awards were announced first, drawing attention.

Following the spirit of the late director Yoo Hyun-mok, a five-time director of the Buil Film Awards, actor Jang Dong-gun was chosen as the winner of the Yoo Hyun-mok Film Arts Award, a special award given to challenging and progressive filmmakers.

Yang Yun-ho, vice chairman of the Korean Film Council, said "The film 'Ordinary Family' is in line with the realism and humanism pursued by director Yoo Hyun-mok, and actor Jang Dong-gun showed a new acting transformation in 'Ordinary Family' to portray his sincere father." This is in line with the spirit of Yoo Hyun-mok, who loves and dedicates to films, and seeks new changes until the end while director Yoo Hyun-mok directed a work called 「Malmijal」 even at the age of 70, and the common passion and will of these two artists became an important reason for this selection.

Winners of the 33rd Buil Film Awards will attend the hand-printing event, which will be held before the ceremony. The previous year's winners, actors Jung Woo-sung (Best Actor), Kim Geum-soon (Best Actress), Lim Ji-yeon (Best Supporting Actress), Lee Joon-hyuk (Star of the Year/Nam), Shin Hye-sun (Star of the Year/Female), Kim Young-sung (New Award/Nam), and Jung Soo-jung (New Award/Female) will shine.

In particular, Jung Woo-sung, the winner of the previous year, is drawing attention as he attended a public appearance for the first time in a long time since he stepped on the red carpet at the Blue Dragon Film Awards on December 29 last year. Jung Woo-sung was found to be the biological father of model Moon Gabi's son in November last year, causing a stir. At that time, Jung Woo-sung acknowledged the extramaritalization and said, "We are discussing the best way to raise the child and will do our best for the child as a father." he said. Since then, he reportedly filed a marriage registration with his non-celebrity girlfriend, who he had been dating, on the 8th of last month.

The film award ceremony is also scheduled for a red carpet event for filmmakers who participated in awards ceremonies other than hand-printing events, drawing attention to the attendance of filmmakers who have shone in the film industry throughout the year.

At the 34th Buil Film Awards ceremony in 2025, which drew attention earlier with the news of actors Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee's selection of hosts, a total of 16 winners (compositions) will be announced, including the Yoo Hyun-mok Film Arts Award, which was unveiled today.
