Lee Sun-kyun's leaked investigative information, police wrote in their first trial, 'There is room for a dispute over leaking official secrets.'

A former police officer accused of leaking investigative information of the late actor Lee Sun-kyun, who died while under police investigation for drug use, denied some of the charges in his first trial.

According to the legal community on the 10th, at the first hearing of a former police officer A held at the Incheon District Court's Criminal Chamber 11 by Judge Kim Sae-byeol, the lawyer of A argued that the suspicion of leaking official secrets could be disputed in light of recent precedents.

However, the charges were admitted for facts such as violations of the Personal Information Protection Act.

In response, the court pointed out that "The legal sentence for violating the Personal Information Protection Act is higher, and it is questionable what is the real benefit of the legal dispute". "Even if you photograph the phage, the fact that it is a secret document does not change."

A is suspected of filming an investigation progress report containing the investigation of Lee Sun-kyun's drug allegations in October last year and delivering it to two reporters.

The report included sensitive personal information such as the name, criminal record, and occupation of the person involved in the case, and some of the contents were reported through the media.

After the leak of investigative information was revealed, A was dismissed.

Meanwhile, Lee Sun-kyun was booked for drug administration in October last year and was investigated three times for about two months, and was found dead in a vehicle near Waryong Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on December 26, four days after his third investigation.
