Group BLACKPINK Rosé has written a new history of K-pop.

At the '2025 MTV Video Music Awards (hereinafter referred to as MTV VMA)' held at UBS Arena in New York on the 8th, Rosé won the 'Song of the Year' category with her collaboration song 'Apartment' with pop star Bruno Mars.

The MTV VMA is one of the four most prestigious music awards in the United States, along with the Grammy Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the American Music Awards.

Rosé was nominated for the best K-pop category for her first solo studio album 'Rogie' with the title song 'Toxic Til The End', in seven categories, including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effect. It was surprising to be nominated for eight categories, but it was the first time in K-pop history that it was nominated for the grand prize of 'Video of the Year' and 'Song of the Year'.

And the first K-pop singer to win the 'Song of the Year' category. 'Song of the Year' category has a 2021 BTS of 'Although he was nominated for 'Innermite', it is even more meaningful because the award was unfortunately failed.




The "Video of the Year" category trophy unfortunately went to Ariana Grande "Braight Days Ahead".

Upon its release on October 18 last year, 'Apartment" hit not only domestic music charts but also overseas charts, ranking third on Billboard's main single chart 'Hot100. This is the highest number of K-pop female singers. The music video surpassed 20 million views on YouTube in 24 hours, surpassing 1.9 billion views last month, marking the fourth time in the world that it has exceeded 1.9 billion views in the shortest period.

K-pop's First MTV VMA Reception Record Added 'Apartment' Now Runs for the Grammy Awards.




Gold Derby, an American predictive media outlet, released its forecast rankings for each category of the 68th Grammy Awards. According to this, 'Apartment' came in 7th place in the 'Song of the Year' category, which is one of the grand prizes. It is also ranked 9th in the `Rookie of the Year' and 5th in the `Record of the Year' award.

Meanwhile, Blackpink, to which Rosé belongs, also showed a strong presence at the awards ceremony. Blackpink won the Best Group Award and Lisa won the Best K-Pop Award for "Born Again" in collaboration with Doja Cat.

BLACKPINK is currently on a world tour 'Deadline' and will release a new album in November.
