Under the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act, celebrities and agencies operating in the form of corporations and individual businesses with more than one person must register for popular culture and arts planning businesses. Violation of this can result in imprisonment for up to two years or a fine of up to 20 million won, and legal sanctions such as criminal punishment and business suspension.
Registration of the pop culture and arts planning business must be completed after applying to each local government, and registration is maintained only after completing legal education every year.
