The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul said on the 17th that it has allocated the case of Sung, who was accused of violating the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act (registered as a popular culture and arts planning business), to the second section of the investigation.
SK Jaewon, a one-man agency where Sung Si-kyung's older sister is serving as CEO, has been found to be operating without registering for the pop culture and arts planning business since its establishment in February 2011. According to the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act, registration of the popular culture and arts planning business must be completed in order to work as a corporation or a private business with more than one person. If you operate without registration, you can be sentenced to up to two years in prison or fined up to 20 million won.
However, the bill has been in effect since 2014. In response, Sung Si-kyung said "The company established a corporation in accordance with the laws and regulations at the time in February 2011. Subsequently, in January 2014, the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act was enacted, and the obligation to register the Popular Culture and Arts Planning Business was newly established and implemented."We were not aware of these registration obligations, and as a result, the registration process was not carried out. "I deeply apologize for the lack of awareness and preparation for the relevant laws and regulations."
We are currently in the process of registering as soon as we are aware of the fact, and we are committed to completing all procedures as soon as possible and faithfully implementing legal requirements," he added.
