On the 2nd, Judge Shin Shinheung-ho of the Incheon District Court sentenced bodyguard A (44) and his company B to a fine of 1 million won, respectively, who were handed over to trial on charges of violating the Security Business Act.
Mr. A was accused of effectively controlling some of the gates by shining a strong flash at fans and general passengers at the scene while supporting Byun Woo-seok's departure at Incheon International Airport in July last year.
The court noted that "flash is an exercise of physical force, which does not fall within the scope of security work" and "it is inappropriate to shoot a light at a public person who did not pose a threat.'
He then ruled that the bodyguard took unnecessary measures even though the person subject to protection chose a public schedule and faced the fans.
However, the court sentenced the defendant to a fine in consideration of the fact that he had no criminal record and reflected on himself.
