The writer Jeong Sang-kyung and director Kim Hee-won opened up about the production process.

Writer Jeong Seo-kyung and director Kim Hee-won met with Sports Chosun at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 2nd to have an interview with the end of the Disney+ original series 『Polaris』 (written by Jeong Seo-kyung and directed by Kim Hee-won and Heo Myung-haeng). At the end of 'Polaris', writer Seo Jeong-kyung wrote "It is an important and meaningful work that I wrote at an important time in my life while writing as a writer." I had a lot of opportunities to think while receiving various feedbacks, and I wanted to thank the viewers who watched until the end and thank the production team at least in this way" expressed his feelings.

Writer Jeong Seo-kyung "There has never been a work that has been cast and started like this. I felt that the story had been decided without realizing it. As Jun Ji-hyun and Kang Dong-won were decided, the platform had to go to a platform where they could work with actors of this size, and I thought about how to melt the two actors' presence and what people expect in the story."




Director Kim Hee-won then said, `We can expand even more like crazy in the future if Disney+ calls us. I've never approached a blockbuster or a large-scale film. The author and I took a picture because we needed a ship to go, we needed a blast, we needed a jumping god, but we had to make the cathedral big to shoot the cathedral scene, a blockbuster that looks like an accident that happened."

There were rumors that Polaris was produced at a cost of 70 billion won, but writer Jeong Seo-kyung and director Kim Hee-won mentioned that it was not true. Director Kim Hee-won said, `The article came out as 70 billion won and 50 billion won, but it's not that amount. I did it as reasonably as Disney+ gave me so that I could take it well, but I felt unfair that it would look like a drama that our staff wasted money. We shot 9 episodes with so much care that those who make it really efficiently and reasonably saved it. It was the largest scale I've ever worked on, so I'm going to run it?? I knew what to do."

Writer Jeong then said "I was so happy to see the article. 'Are we really at 70 billion?' he said. Thank you so much, and it's great that I wrote a real 70 billion won story. I did. I was a little disappointed when I actually heard it. After the article was published, people wrote in the comments, saying, `That's why I spent 70 billion won.' It was fun and grateful to see it without anyone doubting it. I jokingly told Disney people to shoot the difference if they were satisfied, and I would be grateful to receive it, but I was cautious because the platform provided a lot of support so that we could make such a masterpiece. It's not 70 billion won, but I enjoyed filming it because you supported me generously. But it's not 70 billion."




Pukguksong is a story about Moon Joo (Jeon Ji-hyun), who has built an international reputation as a U.N. ambassador, facing a huge truth threatening the Korean Peninsula with unidentified special agent San-ho (Kang Dong-won), who has to protect her as she pursues the back of the presidential candidate shooting. In the last 8-9 episodes, which were released, the story of Moon-joo and San-ho, who clearly confirmed their feelings for each other in the same situation as on the eve of the storm, was drawn, and it ended with an open ending, drawing attention.
