Director Choo Chang-min met with Sports Chosun at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 21st for an interview at the end of the Disney+ original series 'Takryu' (written by Chun Sung-il, directed by Chu Chang-min). Director Chu Chang-min, who challenged the drama through 'Takryu', said "It's an area I haven't tried, and I think it was different and difficult for me because I only talked about two-hour movies and talked for almost eight to nine hours. In particular, it was difficult to shoot a work that was finished in three to four months for eight to nine months, but while there were a lot of difficulties, there seemed to be a lot of fun or interesting points. "
Director Chu Chang-min then said "Long was the hardest."It's not easy for staff and actors to move together because they're going out for eight to nine months in a row. It wasn't easy to spend that period with about 100 staff, and I thought I needed a good staff. So you want to make up an actor?? After a long interview and communication, I think I focused on whether this person has no problem or good communicating with many people for a long time. I built it around those people, and I think I was able to spend it easily because of that."
'Takryu' is a total of nine episodes, and until the seventh episode, the development was closely built, raising questions about the back story. In particular, in the final episode, the main characters witness the war at each place, raising expectations that there will be the next story. In response, director Choo Chang-min said, `We have not prepared anything to talk about later. There may be a point in your mind, but I didn't finish with that in mind.Huh? I was able to finish with revenge and the death of Wang Hae (Kim Dong-won) at the end, but I think I thought it would be better to give a lingering impression than to end it like that. These days, it is a trend for dramas to go seasonally, and then I thought it would be better to leave some room since the main character is not dead. I don't think I thought about going on a season-based basis from the beginning."
When asked if he thought he would try again in the drama, director Chu said, `I think the homework for me was time. The movie takes two hours in three to four months, but I have to take nine hours in eight months, so I don't have enough time, otherwise I thought I wouldn't be able to get the screen or acting I thought. So I think I still have homework on how to solve that part. I don't think there's an answer, and that part is like homework."
"'Takryu' is a destiny-building action drama of those who dreamed different dreams to turn the chaotic world around the Gyeonggang River, where all the money and supplies of Joseon gather, and starred Ro Woon, Shin Ye-eun, Park Seo-ham, and Park Ji-hwan. Director Chu Chang-min made the films 'Gwanghae, Man Who Became King', '7 Years' Night' and 'Land of Happiness' and challenged the series for the first time through 'Turbulent'.
