Writer Jeong Seo-kyung and director Kim Hee-won met with Sports Chosun at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 2nd to have an interview with the end of the Disney+ original series 『Polaris』 (written by Jeong Seo-kyung and directed by Kim Hee-won and Heo Myung-haeng). Even before its release, "Polaris" was a work that was full of backstabbing due to the credit issue, which meant the order of names. Suspicions arose that Kang Dong-won, who was thought to be the main character, was marked as 'and Kang Dong-won' instead of just behind Jeon Ji-hyun.
In response, director Kim Hee-won said, `There is nothing special. It is said that there was a volume issue regarding the credit, but I don't know the source of the error. I don't know why, but if you watched it until the end, it's a character with a presence and it's lingering, but I don't know where it came from. The production presentation regarding the credit?? As I said, I made it thinking it was a long movie, but when you watch a movie, Hollywood movies and Korean movies have lingering characters, and there are times when they make lingering credits, so that will be memorable."
Then "I don't know if this character is alive or dead, but if it's a credit like this, you can look at it and think about it." Since it goes out on a weekly basis, it's the main character in the front, so why can you do that, but if you watch it until the end with a long movie, you can do that. "There are characters who grow in proportion, and sometimes they change and share potions, so I think it's not who's ahead of them or who's behind them, but what's left of them?" he said.
Writer Seo Jeong-kyung said, `I think the pride of our drama is Kang Dong-won and Jeon Ji-hyun. You cast two actors?? I thought this controversy could follow naturally. Kang Dong-won's role is difficult for an actor to play. I was also grateful and moved that Kang Dong-won played such a difficult role, even though the company should only show its presence and acting skills. If and not if you can mark the special presence this actor has as a credit, especially with all your heart. There may be several modifiers, but I think I wanted to express the special position that was accepted in our work."
In the midst of questions about the ending as to whether Kang Dong-won died or lived, writer Jeong Seo-kyung "I did not try to die." I wanted to make a choice. I wanted to make them choose between themselves and their national love and career, but in the process of writing it very naturally, I was surprised to hear what it would be like to kill them while talking to the production team. 'There's such a possibility. I went to the set and people said something to me. How can you do that. He said he was so sad. I had a second thought. In a way, drama is about developing fantasies with viewers, and I thought about how to take this feeling to the end, starting with whether it is polite for a beloved character to die and disappear in an instant. I thought what if I didn't know if I was dead or alive at the end of my consultation. I can't explain how I lived, but I suddenly thought that Moon-joo might be in a crisis one day amid the special abilities of coral and some pattern shown in the story. So I thought about ending it with that thought with the production team and the viewers."
Director Kim Hee-won said, `I thought it would be fun to be in the class, but I thought the ending of the drama would be the same as Moon-joo's belief. Moonjoo would think he's not dead. He's giving a speech in the ending scene at the end. Shall we look far away? I wanted to, but Sanho is the one who watched the way Moonju came out and I'm moving on to a new chapter and I said I wouldn't watch it like that even if I watched it because I didn't know how my presence would affect her and if I showed up, would she need it the most?? I think we'll come out safe. I just asked while filming the door open. Do you think you're dead or alive. The staff decided to die, but they said they all lived while filming. Because I want to believe it. It was projected and that's how I believed it."
Pukguksong is a story about Moon Joo (Jeon Ji-hyun), who has built an international reputation as a U.N. ambassador, facing a huge truth threatening the Korean Peninsula with unidentified special agent San-ho (Kang Dong-won), who has to protect her as she pursues the back of the presidential candidate shooting. In the last 8-9 episodes, which were released, the story of Moon-joo and San-ho, who clearly confirmed their feelings for each other in the same situation as on the eve of the storm, was drawn, and it ended with an open ending, drawing attention.
