While a large cafe on Jeju Island, which went viral under the name of the group Coyote member Baekga, was embroiled in allegations that it used public land worth about 1,800 pyeong without permission, the cafe drew a line on the suspicion, saying, `It has nothing to do with Baekga at all.'

According to a KBS report on the 6th, a large cafe in Seogwipo, Jeju, was found to have illegally diverted about 6,000㎡ (about 1,800 pyeong) of forest land last month. Except for the cafe building, most of the surrounding sites were forest land, where various sculptures and convenience facilities such as trails, swing, lawn hills, and parking lots were installed.

Seogwipo City has asked the local police to investigate the damage to the cafe's mountainous area and plans to order the restoration to its original state based on the results.




Immediately after the report, speculation spread rapidly in online communities and social media that 'Cafes run by Backga'. Backga opened a cafe on Jeju Island during the 2022 entertainment program. He said, "I paid attention to the interior." This is because he shared a number of photos of the space he took on Instagram and went viral as a 'backga cafe'.

As the controversy spread, the cafe's representative A said "I didn't know it was for illegal production area only, and I tried to improve it belatedly, but it was delayed due to financial conditions. "It has nothing to do with Baekga at all." "There are parts that keep being woven and overpacked, so I'm careful, but I'm going to make it clear."

He also explained that "Baekga only participated in the form of a contract in the interior and space planning sectors, and the contract ended in April last year.' It is not a legal representative, and it is a position that it has not been involved in operation at all since the end of the contract.




Some say "If Backga has influenced the formation of brand awareness by referring to the cafe as a space they created on broadcasting and social media, it is partly responsible for it."It is also pointed out that " Some netizens are also raising the possibility of involvement in the operation based on the fact that Baekga mentioned the management of cafe employees and payment of salaries on broadcasts in the past.

Currently, Seogwipo City is waiting for the results of the autonomous police investigation, and administrative procedures will be carried out as soon as the illegal area and restoration method are confirmed.
