Will Bong Joon-ho be able to recreate the glory of Parasite once again. Returning to the new work 'Mickey 17' in six years, he has explored the SF genre that smells like people this time.
The movie 'Mickey 17' was first released in Korea at the press and distribution premiere held on the 17th. Mickey 17 is based on the novel Mickey 7 by American author Edward Ashton, a consumable (expendables) used for dangerous work, and the unpredictable story of Mickey 18 being printed after he died during his 17th death crisis. Hollywood stars including Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Mark Ruffalo, and Tony Collette were all present in the film, drawing hot attention even before its release.

`Mickey 17' is a movie that deeply captures the science fiction genre that director Bong challenged in his previous work. In the 2013 film 'Snowpiercer', he satirizes class society and asks essential questions about human identity and values through 'Mickey 17'.
Mickey partnered with his friend Timo on the macaron business on Earth before becoming a consumable item, and he ended up in a huge debt. Later, he joined an expedition to the icy planet Nippleheim and took on the special role of consumables. Consumables are the most dangerous beings in the process of pioneering a new planet, and when they die, they are made into new clones and inherit existing memories. However, in the process of experiencing death, Mickey realizes that he is not just a tool and tries to find freedom and dignity as a human being. Against society's repressive system of recognizing oneself as a single part, they keep making worries and choices to survive.

The main character, Robert Pattinson, played Mickey 17 and Mickey 18 in the play, challenging himself to play two roles. His acting became an important factor in determining the degree of immersion in the movie because they are two beings with the same appearance but different identities. Robert Pattinson, who rose to stardom earlier in the film `Twilight' series, has demonstrated a broad acting spectrum by appearing in films 'The Batman', 'Tenet', 'Breaking Dawn'. He also presents a completely new face in 'Mickey 17'. In particular, it convincingly solves the process of repeated death and resurrection, making viewers nervous.

Supporting actors also firmly support the play with their heavy presence. Naomi Ackie, who plays Nasha, Mickey's lover and agent of the ice planet, gives her constant love no matter how many times Mickey is newly printed. Mickey is infinitely warm and friendly, but as an agent, he shows the opposite of his charm with his pulpit-like appearance. Steven Yeun plays Timo, a friend who moved to an ice planet with Mickey, and shows a different acting transformation. In the past, he was a friend who boasted a close friendship, but he didn't hesitate to ask a cheeky question to Mickey, who was about to die, and he didn't know where he would go. Mark Ruffalo and Tony Collette play as dictators of the Ice Planet Pioneer Corps, breaking down to Kenneth Marshall and Ilfa Marshall, respectively. The two also starkly show the twisted human desire to monopolize power.
On the other hand, director Bong Joon-ho said at a footy current affairs and press conference held last month that "Mickey 17' is a footy SF movie," raising the audience's curiosity. Just as he has not let go of genre fun while dealing with social problems through his previous works, 'Mickey 17' also added meaning by combining philosophical questions and black comedy elements. Expectations are high on whether the film will surprise audiences around the world once again following 'Parasite'.
