Kim Ji-hoon returns to historical drama after 15 years with 'Going Palace' 'Playing the first king since his debut, so immersed that he got an internal injury.'

Actor Kim Ji-hoon is trying to play the role of king for the first time since his debut through SBS' new Friday-Saturday drama 'Going Palace'.

The first episode of 'Guigung' (directed by Yoon Sung-sik, scripted by Yoon Soo-jung) will be aired on the 18th, and it is a fantasy romantic comedy that takes place when a shaman who rejected the fate of a young girl, Lee Weapon-steel in her first love Yoon Gap's body, and eight ears with a grudge against the royal family are intertwined. Expectations are already rising with the meeting between Yoon Sung-sik, the director of Queen Cheolin, and Yoon Soo-jung, the author of 『The Face of the King』, and the combination of Yook Sung-jae, Kim Ji-yeon, and Kim Ji-hoon.

Kim Ji-hoon plays the role of the righteous and cautious monarch 'Lee Jung' in the play. He expressed his extraordinary determination as it was his first return to a historical drama in 15 years and his first king character. Kim Ji-hoon had a lot of trust because he had a relationship with director Yoon Sung-sik in 'Babel', and he also had a thirst for the role of king," he said, explaining the reason for his appearance.

"The King character can be so obvious and monotonous that it crosses the entire genre from comedy to action to melodrama," he said. "It was more three-dimensional and challenging than any other role I've ever played", he introduced.

He was also thoroughly prepared for his acting. Kim Ji-hoon put the most effort into tone and vocalization. He tried to save the weight of historical drama but avoid too classical a tone""I wanted to carefully express the loneliness as a saint and the human anguish against overwhelming fear one by one. " Especially for the second half action scene, "I used up all my emotions and physical strength, so I didn't recover for more than a month as if I had an internal injury."I realized the intensity of immersion.

As a character who intervenes between Yeori (Kim Ji-yeon) and Yoon Gap (Yook Sung-jae) in the play, the king, a shaman, and Yi Mu-geu's unprecedented 'cooperation' is also a big attraction. Kim Ji-hoon plans to present a bromance that goes beyond military and de facto relationships with actor Yook Sung-jae. The ad-lib that came out during the rehearsal was so good that it came to life in the actual scene," he said, explaining the atmosphere of the shooting.

Finally, "Goong" is a work that organically intertwines the orthodoxy of heavy historical dramas, unpredictable comedy, and chilling fantasy elements. "As the genres are mixed, viewers will be able to feel various emotions."

Meanwhile, 'Going Palace' will premiere at 9:50 p.m. on Friday, April 18, following the SBS drama 'Treasure Island'.
