Cho Jung-seok Leads Summer Comedy ‘My Daughter is a Zombie’

"Zombie Daughter" (directed by Pilgam-sung and produced by Studio N) is a human comedy film about a father of his daughter, who went into top-secret training to protect her daughter, who became the last zombie in the world. The veil was lifted at the CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 30th. The production briefing session was attended by Cho Jung-seok as his father Jeong-hwan, who is struggling to protect his daughter infected with the zombie virus, Lee Jung-eun as Jung-hwan's mother Bam-soon, Cho Yeo-jeong as Yeon-hwa, the first love who hates zombies, Yoon Kyung-ho as his friend Dong-bae, who claimed to be a strong supporter of Jung-hwan, Choi Yu-ri as his daughter Su-ah, who became the last zombie in the world, and director Pil-sung.
The movie adaptation of Lee Yun-chang's popular webtoon 『Zombie Daughter』 released in 2018 is a comedy about the struggle of a father who fled to a rural mother's house to protect his daughter infected with an unknown zombie virus. It is an expected summer tentpole film that will show high synchro rates and ingenious imagination with the original, drawing a lot of attention along with the action fantasy film 'Omniscient Reader's View' (directed by Kim Byung-woo).
In particular, 'Zombie Daughter' was expected to be the third summer comedy film presented by Cho Jung-seok, who became the summer theater artist 'Standard of Happiness' through the movie 'Exit' (directed by Lee Sang-geun) that attracted 9.42 million people in 2019 and 'Pilot' (directed by Kim Han-kyul) that attracted 4.71 million people in 2024. Cho Jung-seok's life-oriented comic performance, which is completely melted into "Daughter Babo Dad" with a close yet exciting training period from basic greeting etiquette to gymnastics and dance and non-bite training, will once again capture the theater. On top of that, expectations are being raised for the performance of trusted scene stealers such as Lee Jung-eun, Cho Yeo-jeong, and Yoon Kyung-ho, and the transformation of Choi Yu-ri, who played a lovely zombie daughter.

In response, Phil Gam-seong said, `I am a long-time fan of Cho Jung-seok. I fell in love with his musical a long time ago. When I was working on this work, I wrote a scenario thinking of Cho Jung-seok with a desperate wish. One pick was Cho Jung-seok, when I thought about who could express the comical but heartbreaking emotions in a favorable way. When I was cast, I felt like I was flying away" he said.
Lee Jung-eun thought that Pilgam-seong was a director with a great sense of comedy when filming "Lucky Day". Choi Yu-ri, a child who boasted a 100 percent synchro rate with Kim Tae-ri during the `Alien + In' series, has been a webtoon with affection for a long time. Then I got a scenario and I really wanted to play this role. It was such an honor to be here with these actors. Sua, who I played, is a girl who loves K-pop dance, and one day she suddenly turned into a zombie. After about 2 hours of makeup, I looked in the mirror and was surprised to find someone other than me. I observed animals such as dogs and cats to play zombies and tried to act using those parts."
Director Pilgam-seong, who heard this, said, `The first actor among us is Choi Yuri. I had to practice zombie acting and K-pop dance early. I was so grateful to see him always working hard without showing any signs of discomfort. Also, special makeup is not easy. Nevertheless, he always approached me smiling. On one occasion, he praised the scene saying, `I will respect you in the future.'

Lee Jung-eun, who met Cho Yeo-jeong again following 'Parasite' (19th, director Bong Joon-ho), has reversed her role. During the period 'Parasite', I served him as a wife, but in the 'Zombie Daughter', I was wary of being the landlord, and Jo Yeo-jeong also said that there was no scene I encountered much in the 'Zombie Daughter', but it was still good. Meanwhile, Cho Jung-seok, Lee Jung-eun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Yoon Kyung-ho, and Choi Yu-ri appeared in 'Zombie Daughter', and the director of 'Humanity' took the megaphone. It will be released on July 30.
