MBC will broadcast the drama 「Casino" (played by Kang Yoon-sung)」 (directed by Kang Yoon-sung), which has drawn attention as a global OTT platform Disney+ original series, for the first time on TV from July 4th.
Drama 'Casino' is a crime action film about the last game thrown by legend Cha Moo-sik (Choi Min-sik), who dominated the Philippine casino world, and the fierce psychological battle between Korean desk detective Oh Seung-hoon (Son Seok-gu), who relentlessly tracks him. This is the first drama series directed by Kang Yoon-sung in the movie `The Outlaws''Long Live the King, and actor Choi Min-sik's return to the drama for the first time in 26 years has drawn attention.
In the preview video released ahead of the first broadcast, the shocking opening of Cha Moo-sik's arrest as a suspect in a murder case at a large casino in the Philippines attracts attention. Then, from his childhood at daycare centers, his days at Daejeon English Academy, and the expansion of the illegal casino business, the turbulent life of ignorance unfolds at a speed like a flashback, increasing his sense of immersion.
In particular, the Philippines' local all-location, the composition of multinational characters mixed with Korean, English, and Tagalog, and heavy narratives that draw from the bottom to the peak of life provide a unique sense of reality and immersion.
MBC said that `drama 'casino' is an unrivaled work that crosses the boundaries of crime, thriller, and black comedy.' `You will be able to feel the congestion of 'a man who had to risk everything' through the character Cha Moo-sik.'
Meanwhile, MBC plans to broadcast a total of 16 episodes of Disney Plus' 'Casino' season 1 and 2 sequentially through the MBC special series. Season 1 will be fixed every Friday and Saturday at 10 p.m. from July 4, and season 2 will be fixed from August to Sunday night. MBC strategically organized the Disney+ original series 'Moving' to build a synergy model between OTT and terrestrial broadcasting, and this 'Casino' is also expected to be a meaningful example in terms of extending the life of content and expanding viewers' access to content.
