JTBC's new Saturday-Sunday drama 'Good Boy' (written by Lee Dae-il, directed by Shim Na-yeon), which was unveiled on the 31st, recorded 4.8% nationwide and 5.7% in the metropolitan area, announcing 'Good Start'. (Courtesy of Nielsen Korea, based on paid households) The first broadcast of the day dominated the small screen with a passionate immersion that exceeded expectations. Above all, Park Bo-gum's new face, which is relentlessly charging toward justice, left a strong impression. Following a bloody close race with a hit-and-run criminal, he jumped into a criminal organization naked with a mouthpiece engraved with 'JUSTICE', revealing the essence of his hot blood-boiling youth. In addition, it seems reckless, but the sense of justice of 200% purity was superbly combined with Park Bo-gum's crude action sequence.
The presence of Kim So-hyun, Lee Sang-i, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok, who saved the reality of national heroes who hit the wall of reality with their delicate emotional performances, also shone. Kim So-hyun is a shooting genius who has been pushed out as a public relations police officer, Lee Sang-i is a cool and logical inspection elite, Heo Seong-tae is a 'Ko Man-sik' who holds out while being shinned by the commissioner, and Tae Won-seok is a 'Shin Jae-hong' who seeks promotion for his family, and depicts the reality of police carrying their own weight, leaving behind the hot glory. In particular, the ending action sequences, which exploded simultaneously, intensely imprinted their main characteristics and raised their heart rate indefinitely. Expectations soared for the future performance of 'Good Avengers' in the ending, which melted boxing's intense punch, the quiet but explosive guns of shooting, the action of a three-speed stick reminiscent of the sleek movement of fencing, wrestling's persistent fighting spirit, and the power of discus throwing.
The show opened with the hottest moments of Yoon Dong-ju, Ji Han-na, Kim Jong-hyun, Ko Man-sik, and Shin Jae-hong. During their time as national team players, they were honored with victory in their respective podiums. But when the torch is extinguished, even the hero is forgotten. Although he became a police officer as a national team member, the reality was too cold. Yun Dong-ju, who had an accident because he couldn't stand the injustice, was demoted to a constable and demoted. Ji Han-na was only mobilized for publicity to reform the image of the National Police Agency, and Kim Jong-hyun had a friction with a team member due to internal accusations. Ko Man-sik was always struggling with money as a goose father, and Shin Jae-hong volunteered for the Hanjik Transportation Department to make a living. In addition, all of them were often ignored as special bonds within the organization.
However, the hearts of those who thought it was extinguished were on fire again. The beginning was a 'rabbit hunting' operation to wipe out the largest criminal organization in personality. The largest number of people were put into this large-scale operation led by Commissioner Cho Pan-yeol (Kim Eung-soo) with the media exposure in mind under the founding of the Inseong Police Agency. However, Yun Dong-ju and Ko Man-sik, who were not in the plan, stepped in and ruined the operation, and the two became loners in the organization amid ridicule, cynicism, and insulting company dinners from their colleagues.
However, another incident occurred to Yoon Dong-ju, who was hiding under the scorching sun to make up for it. The moment he stepped out of the car to catch his breath, the unidentified vehicle hit his hip and ran away. Yun Dong-ju, who was stuck in the mud, chased the driver but missed him, and there was already a dead person who was hit by a vehicle and died there. Yun Dong-ju felt a familiar sense of deja vu while checking the vehicle grill marks on his hips. It was the vehicle seen in the data related to the smuggling of golden rabbit waves by Kwangsu University. Only one car buyer was imported in Korea, but the list was missing information on the car buyer. Sensing that there was a link between the vehicle and the golden rabbit wave, Yun Dong-ju began to fiercely pursue the incident.
At the time Yoon Dong-ju ran to the paint factory after receiving a phone call about the hit-and-run criminal, Kim Jong-hyun found out that the operation 'rabbit hunting' was leaked. In addition, the victim who died in the hit-and-run was a customs official who reported the smuggling of golden rabbits. Kim Jong-hyun was attacked by a gunman on his way to Ji Han-na, who had his belongings in a hurry, but he suppressed it with a three-tiered pole. Shin Jae-hong, who was organizing traffic nearby, blew the lid of the manhole of justice when the speeding car he had been paying attention to threatened Kim Jong-hyun. Jihanna knocked down the gunmen who stormed the house with paint guns. In the meantime, Ko Man-sik, who found out that Yoon Dong-ju, who ran to the paint factory alone, was in danger, asked Ahn Dae-yong (Han Kyu-won) of Kwangsu University for support and gave him a cool flop that he would help him if he beat him. Yun Dong-ju, who came into contact with the golden rabbit group, inserted the fire fist of justice.
This intense ending goes beyond a simple action sequence and captures the moment when the five members of 'Good Avengers' seize justice again for their own reasons. Boxing, shooting, fencing, wrestling, discus throwing, and actions with different styles and weights intersect as if overlapping, and the moment when they connected as a team was thrilled. The production of the scene where the glory of the past national team overlapped with the reality of the present moment was exquisite. Although the torch was extinguished, their hearts were still hot, justice began to move again, and expectations for the next episode were even more heated.
The second episode of JTBC's Saturday-Sunday Drama 'Good Boy' will air at 10:30 p.m. on the 1st and will be released to viewers around the world through Amazon Prime Video.
