Disney and Pixar's new animation 'Elio' gives warm comfort to audiences around the world.
'Elio' held a video press conference on the 17th. The meeting was attended by Madeleine Sharapian, Domish, and Mary Alice Drum producer.
"Elio", which will be released on the 18th, is an emotional adventure film in which Elio, a loner who felt alone on Earth, is suddenly summoned to space one day and meets a special friend. The film drew high expectations as the talented production team, who led Pixar's major works, participated in the film. It was also directed by Domisi, who participated in the series `Elemental' and Inside Out', Madeleine Sharapian, who co-directed and wrote 'Coco'The Miracle of the One Day', and Adrian Molina, who co-directed and wrote 'Coco'. Three-time Academy Award-winning animated feature film producer Pete Drum contributed as executive producer for "Up", "Inside Out", "Soul", and co-producers Mary Alice Drum contributed as producer for "Merida and the Magic Forest", "Good Dino", and "Coco".

'Elio' is a work that unravels the feeling of loneliness with a different perspective following the sadness of 'Inside Out' and the anxiety of 'Inside Out2'. Madeleine Sharapian directed "'Elio' is a movie about loneliness. It depicts a child experiencing loneliness on Earth on his journey to find a place where he or she can feel a sense of belonging" In fact, loneliness is a feeling that everyone experiences. Staff members felt similar emotions as they went through the pandemic, and researched the psychology of loneliness. I also studied a lot about how to heal myself to get out of this feeling," he said.
He then talked about the message he wanted to convey to the audience through the movie. Director Madeleine Sharapian said, `I hope that even one of the people who felt lonely or frustrated before seeing this work has hope"I hope it will serve as an opportunity for Korean audiences to feel comfort from watching 'Elio' and to feel that 'this is where I will be in the world" he stressed.

Above all, 'Elio' draws attention in that it deals with the relationship between an aunt and nephew, not between parents and children. Director Domisi "I wanted to deal with an unusual family relationship that was not covered in other films. A child experiencing loneliness feels even more lonely due to the death of his parents at the beginning of the movie. After that, as I live with my aunt, various conflicts arise"If the story of mother and son comes out in a Disney movie, wouldn't it be easier to predict the development when they don't get along?" However, it was an opportunity to deal with more diverse emotions because there are parts where it is difficult to predict how the story will flow when it is said that it is not a mother and son but an aunt and nephew. From the child's point of view, because he is not a mother, but an aunt, there may be feelings that he/she does not want me, and from the aunt's point of view, there may be feelings that he/she feels when he/she is not ready to play the role of a parent yet. This setting allowed me to emphasize the dramatic elements of the movie more", he explained.

Finally, Drum producer Mary Alice identified the charm of 'Elio'. He was sure to go differently from the SF genres 'Wall-E' and 'Buzz Lightyear'"The two directors are really good at space horror. There's a surreal scene of clones, and there's a scene of homage to 'Toy Story'"But 'Elio' wanted to show a new side that was different from previous Pixar science fiction films." The two directors had such a deep understanding of science fiction that they made good use of typical clichés but added fun of subversion and beat," he said.
Then "Elio looks like a scary monster in the scene where he reveals his teeth when he first meets Gloden, but as soon as he opens his mouth, he is seen as such a cute and lovely character. In the meantime, I've seen the main character being kidnapped several times in movies with iconic aliens, and it was recreated as a pleasant scene, not a scary one in `Elio.'`Elio is a space adventure, but it's a fun piece with unexpected surprise elements.'
