A Netflix official told Sports Chosun on the 24th, `We have never sold the rights of 'black and white cook' to China.'We are currently reviewing internal responses.' On the 17th, Tencent Video, an OTT platform operated by Chinese IT company Tencent, a new entertainment program 'Ipanfengshion' was released. The program features 16 famous chefs and 84 new chefs competing in cooking competitions. Most of this is similar to the popular entertainment show 'Black and White Cook' that was made in Korea, leading to controversy.
In addition to the similarity of the set, the settings are completely copy and paste. Famous chefs and new chefs compete, and new chefs use nicknames to give the impression that they are programs like 'black and white chefs'. In addition, suspicion of plagiarism is on fire because the mission and stage details are all similar.
Meanwhile 'Black and White Cooks' is a popular global entertainment show created by Netflix. For the first time in Korean entertainment, it topped Netflix's global non-English TV show and won the grand prize in the TV category at the Baeksang Arts Awards and the best picture in the entertainment category at the Blue Dragon Series Awards.
