Netflix 'I'm a Survivor' is the second story of 'I'm a God', a documentary series that records the four harrowing events that shocked the Republic of Korea, and the story of the day that should not be repeated with the voices of survivors. 'I'm a Survivor' is the second story of 'I'm a God' that was released on Netflix in 2023 and shocked the world. PD Cho Sung-hyun called himself a god and raised the alarm by highlighting the dark side of those who shook the Republic of Korea and the victims who suffered from it. Immediately after its release, it became the first Korean documentary series to rank No. 1 in the Korean rankings, ranking 5th globally, and received the Presidential Commendation (Broadcasting and Video Industry Development Merit) at the 2023 Korea Content Awards.
'I'm a Survivor' is not just a documentary recording of past events. It warns of future tragedies that are still ongoing and may be repeated in the future. The series was planned with four events, a total of eight episodes. It depicts the unabandoned struggle of JMS (Christian Gospel Mission) and its leader Chung Myung-seok, who are still secretly investigating and following the production team and intervening in the case by the Shinto police, and Maple's unabandoned struggle against the huge power to protect him. It delves into public power and how our society has protected and mass-produced criminals. We also look into the case of the Busan Brotherhood Support Center, where the worst human rights abuse in modern Korean history was committed due to illegal public power exercise, and the murder factory was built out of hatred for the wealthy. Through the voices of survivors who came back from the four hells that day, including poor construction, corruption, and the collapse of Sampoong Department Store caused by the irresponsibility of the supervisory authority, we will look at the structural problems of our society that have been neglected and repeated.
