On the 21st, at the Golden Mouse Hall of the MBC building in Mapo, Sangam-do, Seoul, a production presentation of MBC's new program 'Architecture-Space Traveler ' with a reason' was held and the story of the program was told. Professor Yoo Hyun-jun, Jeon Hyun-moo, Hong Jin-kyung, Park Sun-young, and So Hyung-jun PD attended the production presentation.
Architecture for a Reason is a new concept architectural talk show that tells stories that cross various fields such as history, culture, economy, art, and science through architecture. By newly interpreting the city and space through architecture, it will provide viewers with useful knowledge and the beauty of a different architectural trip that cannot be experienced anywhere.
A four-part pilot broadcast in August last year opened up a new perspective on architecture", "I didn't know architecture would be such an interesting content." drew favorable reviews.
Producer Cho Hyung-joon is a program that began with personal jealousy. I've been subscribing to Sherlock Holmes, but Professor Yoo is so good at expressing his unknowns. I wanted to melt my personal jealousy of feeling rich while in the same space as me into the program and convey it to the viewers well. I wanted to solve economic and humanities through the prism of architecture," he explained why he planned the program.

Professor Yoo said "It is the first time that the word architecture has been included in a Korean entertainment program. I think I've matured enough to be interested in architecture. You may not know because architecture is routine, but I want you to know how much architecture affects thoughts and society. It would be nice to discover your personal preferences while watching. Depending on the angle of the viewer, the spectrum comes out differently."
Then "YouTube feels like a one-man band, a monologue, that I do alone. Now, he is showing good chemistry with the cast members. It's like a four-member band."
Jeon Hyun-moo said, `I'm more glad to have regular programming than entertainment awards. I am happy that the program is not easy to survive. I did the pilot and didn't tell the production team, but I think it will be a regular program. I don't know what everyone's doing because there are a lot of programs these days, but I've heard quite a bit that "Architecture for a Reason" is fun. I thought it was a competitive program. Barcelona has been selected as the world's architectural capital next year. There is also an ambition that if there is a new season of architecture for a reason, it can be done there," he said, looking far away.
Hong Jin-kyung said, `When I'm happiest while doing the program, I can learn something and get paid for it. I ate pheasants and eggs. It's not something you can learn separately just because you go to an academy, but it's a great joy to study and broadcast while listening to high-quality information. I think I can convey the same reward to the viewers as well."
Then "To be really honest, I had so much fun from the pilot. Viewers were worried that this program would be fun. I thought you'd enjoy the story of architecture, but watching the ratings and reactions, I knew it was 'Electronic mind'. I think you can relate to the fact that fun is high-quality fun through information that gives you a lot of weight," he added.
Park Sun-young did a good program during the pilot, but she didn't even have a chance to share her thoughts on the program. It contains such a good story, and I learned it while broadcasting a people's story, not a difficult architectural story. We were confident that not only we but also the viewers were able to enjoy following us. There was also a concern about what if it was too difficult. Thanks to Professor Yoo, who always unravels the humanities and in many ways, it will be an easy and fun opportunity for viewers to feel architecture. I hope we can have a long and fun time together."

Jeon Hyun-moo says "I work as Mu Hyun-jun. I think it'll be more fun than the existing pilot because I feel it and talk about it while making videos"It was my first time in charge of an architectural program, and I wondered if there was such an interesting architectural program. I was honored to take the opportunity. Other companies are running a travel program, and it's almost a fixed comment about how they made this building. Most of the comments are admired, but what I felt while doing this broadcast was that there were many wonderful buildings in Korea. Among the buildings that passed by, there were many buildings that had stories and would be introduced aesthetically as well. .
He then pointed to the buildings that are trending these days like `Tminnam.' Jeon Hyun-moo realized that if you look at "'K-Pop Demon Hunters', there are buildings that live in Gogil-dong, and this is a trend. Apart from the era of envy of high-rise buildings in Dubai, I realized that the old Korean architecture became a trend. I'm trying to live off what's called 'Tminnam', and I actually like the old one. I'm very interested in old houses and buildings, and this became a trend."

Each also mentioned a romance for the building. Hong Jin-kyung said "I thought it was important for the people I meet often, the space I always take care of. There had to be a theory that people, spaces, or people should inspire me. He said, "I usually have that kind of idea of space, and I feel this part even more while doing such a program dealing with architecture."
Jeon Hyun-moo said, "There was an article that I wanted to make a space for an announcer, and I had that feeling. I want to make a space for young cultural artists, but don't you busk in Hongdae. It's an amphitheater not outdoors or indoors, and I want to create a space where young singers can busk and for announcers or aspiring students like me to give speeches. "

Hong Jin-kyung "I don't choose a program to learn. He's thinking about what to watch. When I made a YouTube channel to study, I first thought about whether the object to be consumed would be fun. If I were a viewer, I thought I would want to see content that I could get anything from. I focused on what viewers want to see these days rather than my personal opinion that I want to learn architecture,' he said, explaining why he chose knowledge entertainment.
It seems that there were also concerns between liberal arts and entertainment. Producer So said "We have Professor Yoo. You are already making content that lowers the hurdle. A little bit of entertainment has been added, but if you listen to Professor Yoo's explanation and wander the streets, it's different. I think it'd be nice if I could feel that at least once," he nodded.
Finally, he conveyed 'reason', which has no choice but to look at 'reason architecture'. Producer So said "I'm not a producer with a great sense of entertainment, but I want to be kind to him. The content I created may be burdened by the difficult subject matter of architecture, but I hope you enjoy it as kindly and abundantly as possible," Professor Yoo said. "When it comes to architecture, there are things that are considered equal to real estate. There is an obsession with whether you should own it, but there are many things to enjoy, not the space you own. You can find it like a treasure hunt everywhere. We can't go to many places, so we're going to excavate a lot for you."
Jeon Hyun-moo "If you invest for an hour, you can become Yoo Hyun-jun. Since I'm not going to give a university lecture, I think you can pretend to know about architecture." Hong Jin-kyung said "It's an architectural program, but I don't just talk about architecture." Collect philosophy, history, and humanities. If you're going to spend time in front of the TV anyway, I think you'll get a lot out of it if you watch 'Architecture for a Reason'." Park Sun-young said, "If you stay with us, it will be a fruitful time to travel and build knowledge during that time." he said.
MBC's new liberal arts program 「Architecture for a Reason」 will premiere at 9 p.m. on the 22nd.
