SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Devil: The Murderer's Outing' (directed by Byun Young-joo/scripted by Lee Young-jong/projected studio S/production by Merry Christmas, megamonster, and film studio) is a high-density crime thriller that takes place when another copycat appears after the brutal serial killer 'The Devil' who shook the world more than 20 years ago is caught. It depicts a shocking collaborative investigation between a detective who hated the `warts' all his life and his mother who should catch them.
Above all, the dramatic transformation of all-time legend Ko Hyun-jung attracts viewers' attention. In the play, Ko Hyun-jung plays Jung Shin, who brutally killed five men and became called 'warts'. Whenever a teaser with a pale face, strange laughter, and sparkling eyes in a death row prison uniform was released, expectations for the `Ko Hyun-jung's End Acting' exploded.
Ko Hyun-jung is a serial killer who brutally killed five men and a mother of one child. He explained, "A person who simply cannot be defined, with an eerie aura and empty eyes at the same time." Then "An unexpected aspect is revealed as soon as Jeong-shin is determined. So, I always tried not to let go of the tension when I was shooting," he added.
He was fiercely immersed in the character to make it convincing. "The fun of a thriller comes from curiosity about the character. Instead of showing emotions, Jung Shin's eyes and facial expressions were carefully coordinated to put viewers into doubt," he said, "I talked to director Byun Young-joo several times to refine the details."
He did not hesitate to change his appearance. "To save the dry atmosphere, the decorations were minimized. In addition, in accordance with the setting of a long-term imprisoned death row, the traces of time were expressed through makeup by adding black mushrooms and wrinklesKo Hyun-jung expressed her special affection for the work.
