Actors Han Seok-gyu, Yoon Gye-sang, and Chu Ja-hyun unite as 'Gondang'.

Netflix has confirmed the production of a new series 'Gondang' (tentative title) and has made headlines by unveiling the casting lineup of Han Suk-kyu, Yoon Gye-sang, Chu Ja-hyun, Yoo Jae-myung, Kim Jong-soo, and Ko Doo-sim. The Netflix series 'Gondang' is a noir about three families, Bu, Yang, and Ko, who confront each other to protect their families and families over Jeju's hegemony.

The title 'Gondang' is derived from the Jeju dialect, which means relatives who hold ancestral rites together. Beyond simple relatives, it symbolizes Jeju's unique social relationship of helping and relying on each other within the Jeju community. Within this unique structure, attention is focused on how the story of three families, including Bu, who organized the family by holding the pig/riding industry in his hands, Yang of Jeju City, who is expanding his power into real estate development projects, and Go of Seogwipo, who once enjoyed his prime as a casino business, will unfold.

The lineup of actors leading the `Gondang' also raises expectations. Han Suk-kyu, who is the representative actor of the Korean movie Renaissance and gave a strong immersion with delicate and restrained performances in the dramas 『New Boss Project』, 'Romantic Doctor Kim Sa' series 'Secret Door' and 'Deep Rooted Tree', will play the role of Boo Yong-nam', the head of the 'Gondang' that leads the Bu family. 'Buyongnam' is a person who has to protect his family and family amid the conflict between the three families over the land of Jeju Island. Expectations are high for "Buyongnam" to be played by Han Seok-kyu, who realistically depicts the character's narrative and inner side only with his eyes, breathing, and subtle facial expressions in each work.

Yun Kye-sang, who is showing a wide spectrum through the Netflix series 'In the Forest of No One', the drama 'Tri: We Become a Miracle', 'Ghost Day', the movies 'Malmoi', and 'The Crime City', plays 'Vegan'. The second son of the Bu family and the half-brother of 'Buyongnam' and 'Buyongseon' is a person who struggles to keep his position in the family. It raises questions about how Yoon Gye-sang, who melted the life of any character into his work in his own way, will complete the narrative of 'Vegan'.

Another central character in the Bu family 'Buyongseon' was cast as Chu Ja-hyun, who showed explosive acting skills in the Netflix series 'Surinam', the drama 'Gyeonwoo and Seonnyeo', 'Little Ashes', 'Green Mothers Club', and the movie 'While You Were Sleeping'. 'Buyongseon' plays a role in the Bu family with his outspoken personality and unhesitating behavior. Chu Ja-hyun, who has been immersed in the situation of the character in each work and raised the level of completion, is expected to show a new appearance again through Buyongseon.

Along with the Bu family, Yoo Jae-myung and Kim Jong-soo are cast in the roles of the Yang family's 「Yang Gwang-ik" and the Ko family's"Go Dae-su" respectively, which are at the center of the conflict over Jeju Island's hegemony, increasing their credibility. Playing by Yoo Jae-myung, who showed an overwhelming presence with his solid acting skills in the Netflix series 'The Bandit: The Sound of a Sword', the drama 'Polaris', the movie 'Harbin', and 'Firefighter', Yang Gwang-ik'Yang is the head of the Yang family in Jeju City and is opposite to 'Buyongnam'. Yoo Jae-myung is planning to increase tensions by portraying 'Yang Kwang-ik' who is trying to destroy the Bu family by looking for opportunities in his spare time. Kim Jong-soo, who showed deep acting in the dramas 'Fine: The Villagers' and the movies 'Bogota: The Land of the Last Chance', 'Mushin', 'Hunt', plays 'Ko Dae-su'. Leading the Go clan in Seogwipo, 'Ko Dae-su' has enjoyed its heyday in the past but has declined and is now holding its breath. Kim Jong-soo will portray in three dimensions the changing 'ancient number' for the family's interests amid the turmoil that has risen again.

Finally, Ko Doo-sim, who conveys a deep resonance of any generation through dramas 'Our Blues', 'When the Camellia Blooms' and 'Dear My Friends', joins 'Gondang' as 'Daesangalmang'. In fact, Ko Doo-sim, who is from Jeju Island and is a high-ranking Jeju family member, once again joins a work set in his hometown, following Our Blues set in Jeju Island, drawing great attention. Amid the expectation of Ko Doo-sim's deeper acting, the question of what kind of person he will play 'Daesangalmang' will be.

Director Choi Jung-yeol, who directed the series 'Vizilante', the movie 'Startup', and 'Glory Day', which raises expectations with strong stories and collaborations between actors that give credibility set in Jeju. It raises questions about how director Choi Jung-yeol, who maximized the charm of the genre and the personality of the story, will portray "Gondang", a dense collection of regional characteristics and human relationships. In addition, veteran producers who have worked on the Netflix series 'Squid Game', 'Hounds', 'Surinam', films 'The Secret Agent', 'The Duke' and 'Zombie Daughter' join to expect a well-made production with the best combination of three beats: directing, producing, and casting.

The story of the three families based on Jeju's unique locality, 'Gondang', and 'Gondang', which raises expectations with an intense casting lineup that adds synergy to the work, will be released on Netflix.
