Newcomer Baek Ji-hye won a special award for judges of the film Chungchung International Film Festival...unconventional and immersive

The movie starring actor Baek Ji-hye won a special jury award at the 30th Busan International Film Festival.

Along with winning the work, Baek Ji-hye demonstrated her strong presence by attracting the attention of the audience and critics with her unconventional and immersive acting shown through the role of 'Jisook' in the play.

Actor Baek Ji-hye, who played the main character 'Jisook' in the play, accepted the achievement more happily than anyone else and expressed deep affection for the work and character. He "From the first time I read the scenario, I had a desire to do it. I was so impressed that I looked up all the short stories of the director after I finished reading them," he recalled his first encounter with the work.

For Baek Ji-hye, Ji-sook was a complex person who lived in a lack of affection and longed for desire at the same time. "Jisook was structurally too poor a child exposed to poverty and violence, but at the same time, he was a subjective character trying to realize his desires. There were a lot of things that were similar to myself"He explained why he was able to immerse himself in acting.

To fully express Jisook's emptiness, Baek Ji-hye intentionally isolated herself, pressed her bright personality and focused on loneliness. It also embodied the life of the character, risking weight loss close to anorexia.

Even in his work with director Han Chang-rok, he was able to understand the character deeper, realizing that Ji-suk was a person who even used compassion to survive" he said.

Baek Ji-hye said of the movie's award, `While I was shaking as an actor, I came across a piece called 'Tongchung'. During the filming period, he was comforted by his work, courage, Dumbo, and space, and was also loved by the staff who were with him. I also want to honor the drifting youth who live in this era with me," he added.
