Meanwhile, in Japan, bears have recently become a social problem due to the appearance of private houses and human casualties.

In August, a hiker in his 20s was killed in a brown bear attack in Hokkaido, and in July, a newspaper delivery man was bitten by a bear and died. In the same month, an elderly man in his 80s was killed in a bear attack in Iwate Prefecture.

As a result, the Japanese government implemented an amendment to the Wildlife Protection Management Act last month that allows the use of shotguns when hunting bears in the city center. If the head of a local government deems it necessary, it is possible to use shotguns in urban areas.
