Director Ha Myung-mi said at the press and distribution premiere of the movie 'Hanran' held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 12th, `It was the best luck to meet Kim Hyang-gi, and it was like fate to meet Kim Min-chae.'
Released on the 26th, 'Hanlan' is a film set in Jeju in 1948, about the strong survival journey of a mother and daughter who crossed mountains and seas to survive, and director Ha Myung-mi of 'Her Hobby' took the megaphone.
'Hanlan' means the orchid of Hallasan Mountain that blooms in winter. Like the Korean War, which blooms unbroken even in the cold, the film depicts the unbroken nobility of life and the greatness of life through the survival journey of a mother and daughter who fled to Hallasan Mountain during the Jeju April 3 incident in 1948. Director Ha said "It's been a while since I started planning this movie. I moved to Jeju in 2013, and it's been a little over 10 years since I stayed there. Every year 4.3 Memorial Day comes back and I feel very sorry and heartbroken to just keep grieving as I attend the memorial service. I was thinking about how I could sympathize with this historical tragedy and be sad, but I ended up making it into a movie."
He also told how he cast Kim Hyang-gi and Kim Min-chae, who worked together as mother and daughter in the play. First of all, about Kim Hyang-gi "It is the best luck to meet Kim Hyang-gi. As soon as I finished writing the script, I told the producer and delivered the script to Kim Hyang GiWhile working on the scenario, I was thinking about Goa-jin who would have experienced the Jeju 4.3 incident in 48, and I also hoped that young people living in the present era in 2025 would meet Goa-jin. I thought about what kind of actors would be able to connect that well, but Kim Hyang-gi was the only one who came to mindexpressed deep confidence that "
Regarding Kim Min-chae, he also said, "'Min-chae is an actor I met through a fierce audition.'"As well as in the field, he rehearsed a lot for an important god in advance through prior work. Kim Hyang-gi rented a practice room for Kim Min-chae during the pre-work, so we got better results on the spot," he said.
Then "Jeju language is so important that I held an open audition on Jeju Island, and it was difficult to find a suitable actor. Since then, I have auditioned with child actors who have appeared in various genres of movies in Seoul, and I met Minchae like fate. Minchae did a great job in the scene that I thought was important."
