BABYMONSTER has officially launched their global popularity surge by topping Japan’s Oricon chart with their second mini-album WE GO UP.
According to YG Entertainment on the 13th, BABYMONSTER’s mini-album WE GO UP debuted at number one on Japan’s Oricon Daily Album Chart on its Japanese release date of the 11th.
This marks the group’s first time reaching the top on Oricon, Japan’s most authoritative and widely recognized music chart, instantly capturing local fans’ hearts and proving their immense popularity.
The album features four new tracks spanning diverse genres: the title track WE GO UP, a hip-hop song packed with powerful energy; PSYCHO, a catchy and addictive melody; SUPA DUPA LUV, an R&B hip-hop track; and WILD, a country pop dance song. Each song showcases BABYMONSTER’s unique personality and energy, demonstrating their expanded musical spectrum and growth.
The title track WE GO UP embodies the ambition to reach higher, blending strong brass lines, bold rapping, and thrilling high notes for a polished and impactful sound. Following its release, the song quickly climbed major Japanese music charts, including iTunes, AWA, and Rakuten Music, receiving enthusiastic responses from local listeners.
Even before their official Japanese debut, BABYMONSTER had already established a strong presence in the market. From dominating digital charts for extended periods to appearing on terrestrial music programs, gracing popular magazine covers, performing at major music festivals, and being chosen as brand ambassadors, they continue to demonstrate the influence and attention befitting a “5th generation representative girl group.”
Earlier this year, during the 2025 BABYMONSTER 1st WORLD TOUR IN JAPAN, the group attracted a total audience of 150,000, setting a record for the largest number of attendees in the shortest time for a K-pop girl group. Riding the wave of enthusiastic local support, BABYMONSTER will now hold a fan concert tour, BABYMONSTER [LOVE MONSTERS] JAPAN FAN CONCERT 2025.
