In the aftermath of the massive disaster, Music Bank Pyeonstor and the immortal KBS entertainment show will be canceled

KBS will cancel major entertainment programs and organize alternative programs with special broadcasts such as liberal arts and documentaries during the national mourning period of the Jeju Air plane disaster.

KBS announced on the 31st that 1TV's representative cultural program 'Morning Madang' will continue its cancellation this week. The longevity program 'National Singing Contest' was also canceled this week following last week in consideration of public sentiment over the massive disaster. Instead of being canceled, the atmosphere of remembrance will continue through alternative programs.

2TV's on-site public recording of the program has been postponed due to the cancellation of `The Seasons-Lee Young-ji's Rainbow' and 'Gag Concert' this week. KBS said it will seek understanding from the winners of the audience through separate guidance and try to minimize inconvenience. 'Music Bank', 'New Release Pyeon Restaurant', 'I am a singer in Germany' and 'Immortal Masterpiece' are also taking a break this week to mourn the national disaster.

KBS previously decided to produce the KBS Acting Awards scheduled for today (31st) as a recorded broadcast instead of a live broadcast and organize it later, and canceled the '2025 Countdown Show LIGHT NOW' event in front of Shinsegae Department Store in Myeong-dong, Seoul on the same day.

On the other hand, current affairs documentary programs such as 「Tracking 60 Minutes" and"More" and"Current Affairs Planning Chang" will cover the Jeju Air plane disaster urgently and broadcast a special episode, respectively.

Meanwhile, at 9:03 a.m. on the 29th, Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, exploded after crashing into the end of the airport runway during an emergency landing at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province.

A total of 181 passengers, including 175 passengers and six crew members, were on the plane, and all but two Thais were confirmed to be Korean passengers.

The accident killed all 179 passengers except for two crew members. Accordingly, the government declared Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, a special disaster area, and designated seven days as a national mourning period until 24:00 on the 4th of next month.
