On the last day of the 'ComplexCon' held at the Asia World Expo in Hong Kong on the 23rd, NewJeans appeared as a headliner.
However, the name 'NewJeans' was completely erased. It was introduced as 'NJZ' instead of 'NewJeans', and fans also chanted 'NJZ'. The performance repertoire was also filled with the members' solo stages and new songs 'Feed Stop', not the hits of New Jeans. Minji sang Upshall 'Smile for the Camera', Hani sang Ghost Town DJ's 'My Boo', Daniel sang TLC's 'No Scrub', Hyelin sang D-Internet's 'Doncha', and Hyein sang SWV's 'Use Your Heart'.
After finishing the stage, NewJeans announced the suspension of his activities.
Members have decided to temporarily suspend all activities in respect of the court's judgment. For the time being, I'll take a step back and take a moment to get my mind together. I'm mentally exhausted and tired. We know better than anyone that our choice will not be easy, but we have spoken out to protect each other, the values we believe in, while accepting the court's decision."
Then "Bunnies (NewJeans fan club) may be upset, but this is what protects us. That way you can come back stronger. I will cheer up again and move forward. I want you to know that this is not the end. We'll be back. I want to meet you with a bright smile then. It wasn't an easy decision, but it's a necessary choice at this point. I don't regret my choice."
However, the suspension of Newzins' activities was not discussed with Adore. Adore sent an employee to 'ComplexCon' to try to contact the members, but the members reportedly refused to meet. In other words, the suspension of activities seems to have been made because ignoring the court's provisional injunction citation could be disadvantageous in the main lawsuit.
Earlier, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Agreement Department 50 (senior chief judge Kim Sang-hoon) cited Ador's request for a provisional injunction against the members, including preservation of agency status and signing advertising contracts. The court ruled that NewJeans is an artist belonging to Adore under an exclusive contract, and that no entertainment activities can be carried out without consultation with Adore.
But Newzins drew a line with Adore. They foreshadowed the objection, saying that they "respect the court's judgment but do not take into account the breakdown of their trust relationship with Adore." It also intends to provide the basis for the claim at a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract on April 3.
Also on the 22nd, in an interview with the U.S. weekly Time magazine "Maybe this is the reality of Korea. But change and growth are needed. Korea seems to be trying to turn us into revolutionaries." Even Ko Sang-rok, a lawyer at Phil, a law firm from Kim & Chang who is famous for being a fan of NewJeans, even said "If (NewJeans) had come to spout anti-Korean comments, where would they stand?"
Attention is being paid to the move of New Gins, who has been super-strong every day.
