According to the legal community on the 20th, the Seoul High Prosecutors' Criminal Department summarily indicted Jeong Chun-soo, the former CEO of the YouTube channel Open Sympathy TV, on charges of violating the Information and Communication Network Act (defamation) on the 14th. Abbreviated prosecution is a procedure in which a fine is requested through a written hearing without a formal trial.
Lee Young-ae's agency Group A filed a civil suit in October 2023 when Jeong Chun-soo made a claim that `Lee Young-ae's donation of KRW 50 million to President Syngman Rhee Memorial Foundation is related to the Yoon Suk Yeol President and his wife.'
In this regard, the Seoul Western District Court's Civil Agreement Department 12 (Chief Judge Jinyoung Kim) made a reconciliation recommendation on October 29, 2024, but the reconciliation failed as the two sides refused to accept it and submitted an objection. As a result, the court ruled against the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed by Lee Young-ae against former CEO Chung.
Meanwhile, in August of the same year, the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office ordered a comeback investigation of former CEO Chung, conducted a direct investigation, and decided to briefly indict him after judging that he was found guilty of defamation.
