Yul-hee Seeks Custody Change and Alimony in Lawsuit Against Choi Min-hwan

Yul-hee, a former member of girl group Labum, filed an application for the change of custody and the mediation of alimony and property division claims against her ex-husband, Choi Min-hwan of FT Island, and the Seoul Family Court reportedly failed. In response, the two sides are expected to face off in a lawsuit.

According to a report by Newsis on the 14th, Judge Kang Yoon-hye of the Seoul Family Court held a settlement date on the 12th, including changes in parental rights and caregivers filed by Yul-hee against Choi Min-hwan, and decided not to establish a settlement.

Application for mediation is a procedure that can be decided through agreement without a formal trial. As the two sides have failed to adjust, they are expected to proceed with future procedures through formal trials.

The two married in 2018 and had one son and two daughters, but they completed a consultative divorce in December 2023. At that time, they agreed not to exchange money with each other regarding alimony and property division, and both custody and parental rights were reportedly attributed to Choi Min-hwan.

However, Choi Min-hwan claimed in October last year that Yul-hee reversed the agreement when she insisted on entering sex trafficking businesses. The police booked Choi Min-hwan and continued the investigation, but concluded the investigation without charge, saying there was insufficient evidence to admit the violation of the Sex Trafficking Punishment Act and forced harassment.

Yulhee applied for mediation to the Seoul Family Court in November last year, including the change of parental rights and caregivers, and at that time, Yulhee reportedly demanded 100 million won in alimony, 1 billion won in property division, and custody and parental rights.
