G-Dragon Blends Art and Science as KAIST Visiting Professor

'Professor' G-Dragon has written a new history.

On the 9th, the event of Innovate Korea 2025 was held at the headquarters of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. On this day, G-Dragon attended the event as a visiting professor of mechanical engineering at KAIST.

G-Dragon is working with KAIST to break down the boundaries between art and science and envision a new stage utilizing advanced technologies such as AI avatar robots"I never thought about sending music into space, but I'm excited to imagine that my song could reach someone unknown one day. If someone's feelings on Earth can reach someone's heart again after wandering around the universe, it would be a deep consolation that has reached a very far distance."

G-Dragon sent 'Home Sweet Home' to space, which he sang with Taeyang and Daesung of Big Bang. He says "It's a song about home that feels nostalgic. It's a more special song with the members, and it was fun to imagine Big Bang going to the universe where it was," he said, explaining the reason for his selection.

G-Dragon's space sound source transmission project is the result of collaboration between his agency Galaxy Corporation and KeyEast and is linked to the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). SETI is a project that transmitted the music of the British rock band The Beatles and the American rapper Missy Alleyot into space, and G-Dragon is the first in Korea. In particular, this project is evaluated as the completion of Entertech, which attempts to communicate with other civilizations beyond time and space.

G-Dragon cheered as he watched the quadrupedal robot dance to his hit song. He will continue to explore a new genre by attempting an artistic combination of AI and entertainment.

G-Dragon said, `Since last year, the burden and sense of duty as a singer have increased. Although he did not study science professionally, he is also well influenced as a creator by watching storytelling made by AI programs. You get energy from your favorite work. If you find a problem rather than an answer and repeat your interesting imagination, it will soon become a reality."
