Japanese Girl Group f5ve Apologizes for Using Gu Hara’s Photo

Japan's five-member girl group f5ve made an official apology in the face of fierce criticism for using a photo of the late Gu Ha-ra for marketing purposes, but public opinion is cold.

Recently, Fabi reposted one image with the phrase 'IDGAF (I don't care)' through its official SNS account.

A coffin was inserted in the lower left of the image, and the controversy grew as the person in the photo was known as the late Gu Ha-ra from Kara.

After the controversy erupted, fans and Internet users strongly criticized the posts as inappropriate for defaming the deceased.

In particular, it was pointed out that the use of the image was careless, as the background of Gu Ha-ra's death was a socially sensitive issue.

In response, Fabi immediately deleted the post and posted an apology on its official account on April 10.

Fabi said "Thank you to those who told me about the unpleasant meme"I did not properly recognize the fact that the late Mr. Gu Ha-ra appeared in the image and its context", he explained.

"We never take this incident lightly, and we deeply apologize for it." There has also been a practice of sharing memes produced by fans frequently, but the criticism is still strong, although he added that this was a clear mistake.

Meanwhile, f5ve is a Japanese project girl group that debuted on March 1, 2023, and is currently active in Japan and Asia.
