A group of people who tried to extort hundreds of millions of won by threatening to distribute photos of famous singer A's personal life on his phone have been arrested.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Criminal Department 7 (Director Kwon Sung-hee) arrested and indicted Hong on charges of violating the law on punishment, including acts of force.

Hong accidentally acquired a mobile phone that A used in the past with two accomplices last month. Since then, he is accused of extorting about 100 million won in cash by demanding 500 million won in cash to distribute personal information and personal photos on mobile phones.




Police arrested Hong in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do on the 17th of last month. Accomplice Kwon had already been arrested on another case, so he was immediately put on trial. Another accomplice is undergoing a complementary investigation.

One of the group reportedly stated that he had been a member of a famous gang in the past.
