‘Kim Soo-hyun Prevention Act’ Enters National Assembly Review to Expand Protection for Minors

According to the National Assembly's petition system for public consent, the petition filed on the 31st of last month for the raising of the age of the agenda of minors and strengthening punishment, so-called the Kim Soo-hyun Prevention Act, exceeded 50,000 consent as of the 7th.
Accordingly, the petition will be automatically referred to the standing committee under the jurisdiction of the National Assembly.
The petitioner argued that `Under the current law, the crime of rape of minors is only protected by children aged 13 to 16, so minors aged 16 to 18 are in the blind spot of the law.' `Although legally defined as minors up to the age of 18, it is ineffective.'
In addition, "Although suspicions about the past relationship between Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron recently arose, it is pointed out that legal punishment is not possible because it is not subject to the application of the agenda rape under the current law."
However, actor Kim Soo-hyun responded to the allegation by saying, `There was no dating during the underage period"I strongly deny it. Currently, there is no separate investigation or legal action in this regard.
The petition, which has emerged under the name of the Kim Soo-hyun Prevention Act, strengthens the scope of protection for minors and raises the age of application for agenda rape to under 19 years old, and attention is being paid to how related discussions will lead to future legislative processes.
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference on the 31st of last month and expressed his position on the controversy surrounding him.
