NewJeans Announces Appeal After Losing First Trial Against ADOR

On the 30th, Minji, Hani, Daniel, Harin, and Hyein's legal representative, Sejong Law Firm (Yoo) issued an official statement and sentenced the first trial to the effect that the exclusive contract is valid in relation to the lawsuit for validity of the exclusive contract filed by Adore Inc. against the members" he informed.
Members respect the court's judgment, but they say that it is impossible to return to Ador and continue normal entertainment activities in the current situation where the trust relationship with Ador has already been completely broken.
Members will immediately appeal the judgment of the first trial, and we hope that the Court of Appeal will once again comprehensively examine the facts and the law on the termination of the exclusive contract and make a wise ruling," he added.
Earlier in the day, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Agreement Department 41 (Chief Judge Chung Hoi-il) ruled in favor of the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed by Adore to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract against five NewJeans. Members did not appear in court.
The court refused to accept the claims of breach of contract and breakdown of trust relationships claimed by NewJeans, determined that the exclusive contract signed on April 21, 2022 was still valid, and left NewJeans to bear the costs of the lawsuit.
In November last year, NewJeans announced plans for independent activities, claiming the termination of the contract for violating the exclusive contract of Ador. However, Odor filed a lawsuit with the court saying the contract was still valid, and the court accepted all applications for injunction against the members, including preservation of agency status and advertising contracts, as well as indirect compulsory applications. As a result, the members stopped their activities.
