Lee Seung-gi to Drop First Original Song in 5 Years This May

Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi's flowery path continues.

Lee will release a new album in May.

The agency Big Planet Made said `Lee Seung-ki is preparing a new song with the goal of releasing it in May.'

Last year, Lee released albums 'Emergency' and 'With' to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his debut. 'Emergency' is a reinterpretation of Lim Jae-beom's hit song, and 'With' is a remake of his hit song. In other words, Lee Seung-ki's original new song is expected to be enthusiastic as it has been five years since his 7th full-length album 'The Project' released in 2020.

The main film 'The Big Family', which was released last year, also began to reverse. directed by Yang Woo-seok, "The Big Family" tells the story of a family when grandchildren come to Ham Moo-ok (Kim Yoon-seok), the owner of a dumpling restaurant whose only son, Ham Moon-seok (Lee Seung-ki), who became a monk. Lee Seung-gi drew attention by shaving his head.

'The Big Family' drew 340,000 viewers at the time of the theater's release, showing a disappointing performance that fell short of the break-even point (2.6 million people). However, the situation has reversed since the release of Netflix on the 11th. It jumped to No. 1 in the Korean movie category in a day, and has remained at the top for 10 consecutive days.

Lee recently won a lawsuit against his former agency, Hook Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as Hook). Lee Seung-gi sent a proof of content and notified him of the termination of the exclusive contract, saying he had not received a settlement of music revenues for 18 years at Hook, which he had been with since his debut in 2022. Hook filed a lawsuit to confirm the existence of a debt, claiming the return of 900 million won, saying that he had settled too much advertising revenue after transferring about 5.4 billion won of his own settlement to Lee Seung-ki.

However, the court judged that `Hook should pay Lee Seung-gi an additional 581 million won.' The court ruled that "the Plaintiff (Hook)'s failure to pay the settlement amount and provide the settlement data constitutes an act of destroying a high degree of trust by intentionally or at least grossly negligent in failing to properly fulfill the obligation to settle the record and sound source revenues to the Defendant (Lee Seung-ki)."
