On the 13th of last month, the Supreme Court (Chief Justice Roh Tae-ak) confirmed the original ruling, which sentenced A, who was charged with violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes, to one and a half years in prison and two years of probation.
A is accused of sexually assaulting a woman who was drinking with her in August 2023 by taking her to her acquaintance B's house.
The first trial judged that A and B jointly committed the crime, and sentenced them to three and a half years in prison for special quasi-rape charges. However, the second trial court sentenced him to one and a half years in prison and two years of probation for applying only quasi-rape charges, saying, `There is no evidence to admit that adultery took place in succession and in turn, and agreed with the victim.'
The prosecution objected to this and appealed, but the Supreme Court upheld the second trial's ruling.
However, B, who was indicted along with A, was sentenced to one and a half years in prison.
